Mom's cut-out cookies
December 20, 2009

easy | 0 servings | prep: 2 hours, 30 minutes | cook: 20 minutes

These are my absolute favorite holiday cookies since I was a little girl. Still can't do them as good as my mom does, but hopefully that will come!!!
So fun for the kids to decorate, get lots of sprinkles and decorate with frosting.
(1/2 - 3/4 stick butter, powdered sugar, milk, vanilla)

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 cup margarine

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla

1/2 tsp almond flavoring

2 1/2 cup flour

1 tsp cream of tartar

1 tsp baking soda

Directions:
cream together powdered sugar and margarine

mix in egg, vanilla, almond flavoring

mix together flour cream of tartar, baking soda

add to above mix

shape into 2 balls, refrigerate for 2 hours.

(if not firm enough to shape into balls, add more flour!!)

roll out and cut into shapes with holiday cut outs. They shouldn't be too thick, they get too doughy.

Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 Degrees for about 5 - 6 minutes.

Watch carefully so bottoms don't burn. If doing 2 cookie sheets at a time, switch positions half way through.

Wine pairing:

milk
